Sgraffito tiles

Here are my Sgraffito tiles, which were used to practice some design patterns to go onto my bowl.  Out of them the entire top one is my favorite because of the detail and that it is well controlled. But what makes it really stand out is the small details that has been highlighted all over the tile, it makes it look decayed and brings so much more depth to it.
The other two aren’t as good as I hoped they would be, the bottom one has balance butt the denim blue glaze doesn’t show the design that clearly. I should have used a clear glaze to reveal the detail a lot more. The middle tile is good but could be a lot better and the reason for that is because I carved too much clay out and should have done it a lot neater. However I do like the carved objects against the white background it brings it so much more and the blue stain gives it tone and shade.

Slab building

This is my slab building from year one of level three, this is one of my most successful slab builds cause it held together well. I am putting this image in my portfolio for interviews in university. I like the design of it, its minimal and effective although I do think I should of put some kind of roof on top to make it look fully complete but I am pleased with how its turned out.
What I love the most about this is the detail that has been highlighted it gives it so much depth and I did this by applying manganese oxide all over the slab build. It has also made it look like a decayed and old building.
