Here are my Sgraffito tiles, which were
used to practice some design patterns to go onto my bowl. Out of them the entire top one is my favorite
because of the detail and that it is well controlled. But what makes it really
stand out is the small details that has been highlighted all over the tile, it
makes it look decayed and brings so much more depth to it.
The
other two aren’t as good as I hoped they would be, the bottom one has balance
butt the denim blue glaze doesn’t show the design that clearly. I should have
used a clear glaze to reveal the detail a lot more. The middle tile is good but
could be a lot better and the reason for that is because I carved too much clay
out and should have done it a lot neater. However I do like the carved objects
against the white background it brings it so much more and the blue stain gives
it tone and shade.
